The Horowhenua Community Trust

Criteria:

The Horowhenua Community Trust, PO Box 643, Levin

It is a condition of the above trust that all successful applicants will with in 20 working days of acceptance of funding supply to us a copy of all receipts pertaining to the funding received. Trust Audit Inspection - In making and being sucessful in an application, you have consented to the above trustees having the power to inspect all original receipts when required.

Any applications for funding are required to fall into one of the following four categories.

  • Sports
  • Educational
  • Cultural
  • Charitable

In addition, any application must benefit the New Zealand Community. The Trust has a policy of returning the maximum amount of money to the Levin/Horowhenua area.

The Trust endeavours to meet on a fortnightly basis and must distribute the money in accordance with the Authorised Purpose of the Trust as approved by the Department of Internal Affairs.

The Authorised Purpose is:

  • Donations to recognized educational and cultural organizations, and
  • Amateur sporting groups, within the local community.
  • No grant shall be issued to any player or team competing on a Professional basis.
  • No grant shall be issued to any party which will result in commercial advantage; either directly or indirectly, to the Oxford Hotel.
The Trustees shall make the decisions regarding the approval of funding under the policies and criteria set down from time to time and under the Gambling Act 2003 and its regulations. Note: All applications must comply with all of the conditions printed on the information sheet provided and all sections must be complete before being considered eligible for inclusion in the process. All supporting documents as required in the application form must also accompnay the initial application. They must also comply with the Trust’s policies. The Trust always reserves the right to decline any application that does not comply with the above conditions or where there is insufficient funding available.

Any complaints regarding the distribution of funding should be made in writing and addressed to The Horowhenua Community Trust, PO Box 643, Levin. All complaints will be responded to after being discussed at the next Trust meeting.

Annual review of criteria, methods, systems and policies:

At the last annual review the Trust has decided to maintain the current criteria, methods, systems and polices for use in considering the distribution of net proceeds from class 4 gambling. Plus the Trust reinforces the following:

Prioritising Distribution of funding:

  • locals applications get first priority based on maximising benefit to the community i.e Schools, Parks & Reserves and general benefit to the whole community
  • other local applications after the above
  • others outside the local area

Publication of the availabiltiy of net funds for authorised purposes:

Note that the Trust hereby notifies the public that meetings of the Trust are held fortnightly to consider any proper and complete applications for funding. The net funds avaialable for distribution vary from time to time. An indication of the amount of net funds which may be available can be seen in the list of approved applications on this website under the Grants page.

The Society publishes in the local papers the following in regards to the availability of funding. The amount of funding can change from month to month depending on the income from class 4 gambling.

The Horowhenua Community Trust is a Incorporated society that raises funds for the community through the operation of gaming machines. The Trust has a policy of returning the maximum amount of money to the Levin/ Horowhenua area.

The Trustees of The Horowhenua Community Trust are D. Scott, a Factory Supervisor, M. Whiti, a Tutor and J. Thompson, a House Professional.

All due consideration will be given by the Trust to complete and correct grant applications. All applications must comply with all of the conditions printed on the information sheet provided, the Gambling Act 2003 and its regulations. They must also comply with the Trust’s policies.
